Stefanos Tsitsipas shows sportsman spirit despite being knocked out of the US Open
After being knocked out of the US Open 2023, Stefanos Tsitsipas showed a great example of the sportsman spirit and signed autographs for the fans by remaining on the court for the fans. While speaking to the media after the match, Stefanos Tsitsipas explained his heart-touching gesture and said he was touched by the enthusiasm of the young fans. He further said that this reflected the same enthusiasm when he was young. Stefanos Tsitsipas said:
It’s not an easy thing to stay there. I saw the little kids' faces. It touched my heart because I was in their position once upon a time. I really looked up to players like me in this occasion. I consider myself someone players look up to.
Probably not as much as Federer, Rafa, or Djokovic, but I’m somewhere there in the substitutes. It felt good. Although inside of me, the 1st thing I wanted was to leave the court & clear my thoughts. I had to do it. I hope I made people happy.
Stefanos Tsitsipas added
By no means I'm supposed to put any blame on any people or any members of my team. Everything on court is under my control and under my talents, and the way I can play this sport are shown out on the court. If I'm not able to deliver, then I'm not supposed to be doing well.
