Victory in debut appearance
In the post-match press conference, "I am really excited. Firstly, I was excited to be a part of the ATP Tour Finals experience. For me, it was already a big thing. Now that I am a champion, I don’t how to explain it. I don’t feel anything. There are too many emotions to feel something. It is horrific in a way to be holding this trophy. I remember watching this event on TV and thinking that these guys have had an insane year to be playing here. Now, I am in a position where I am the champion, so it feels awesome."
He was also asked about being the best tennis player from Greece, which does not produce many tennis players, whether he felt the pressure of the same. He said, "Honestly, there is not a lot of Greek tennis, it’s mostly football and basketball. For me, I do feel lonely being the only Greek that plays at such a high level. I honestly wish there were more players coming from up. I’m honestly wishing that they do better than me and push me and motivate me. I was really excited to be a part of the Davis Cup this year which would be something new and something fresh for me."
Tsitspas has become the first Greek player to win the tournament and the youngest ATP Finals champion since Lleyton Hewitt in 2001, becoming the sixth youngest Champion in the event's history. Having turned professional in 2016, Tsitsipas has won only three ATP 250 titles and has now scalped one of the most prestigious tournaments after the four Grand Slams.
