US Open 2024: Novak Djokovic Claims Straight Set Victory in Pursuit of Historic 25th Grand Slam

Novak Djokovic began his bid for a record 25th Grand Slam title and tied Roger Federer with his 89th match win at the US Open.

At the US Open 2024 Championships, Novak Djokovic aims to make history as he aims to clinch the record-setting 25th Grand Slam title win at the US Open. At the Arthur Ashe Stadium, The Serbian Tennis star locked horns with Moldova's Radu Albot and put up a strong effort to defeat the star tennis player. Coming off a gold medal win at the Paris Olympics at Stade Roland Garros, Djokovic is running high in enthusiasm, and the first-round win at the Tennis majors will help him run the course on the hard courts in New York.

Novak Djokovic Dominates in Convincing Round One Victory Over Radu Albot at US Open

The No. 2 seed Novak Djokovic has commenced his race to the record-setting 25 Grand Slam titles, and he began with a win in the first-round match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Novak was seen wearing a grey sleeve on his surgically repaired right knee. But it did not limit his performance as he pulled off straight-set wins against Radu Albot 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 on Tuesday Morning. as per Indian Standard Time.

Novak Djokovic was barely troubled by Radu Albot as the no. 2 seeded tennis star put up a sublime play and led the game with strong leads. The Moldovan Tennis tried to rally back in the competition, but Novak effectively held the lead and put him in the driver's seat. The Serb is a step closer to making history after missing out on the Australian Open and French Open titles this year.

Djokovic enhanced to 18-0 in first-round matches at Flushing Meadows and is now 89-13 overall at the hard-court tournament. He has never lost earlier than the third round at the US Open, while Albot never has been past the third round in 30 appearances at the majors. Djokovic never has lost a Grand Slam match to someone ranked as low as No. 138 Albot. And Albot is now 0-12 against opponents ranked in the top 10. Djokovic has now tied Roger Federer, who went 89-14 on the New York hard courts with his 89th match win.

Novak Djokovic will face off against a known opponent as he would lock horns with Serbia's Laslo Djere in the second round of the US Open.
