Wimbledon highly considering cancellation after nationwide lockdown in UK: Report
Wimbledon 2020 tournament is scheduled to happen between June 29 and July 12. While the UK lockdown continues following the coronavirus outbreak around world.

Following coronavirus outbreak, ATP decided to suspended professional tours until June 7, due to which entire claycourt season came to a standstill. While French Tennis Federation has decided to reschedule French Open tournament, same cant be said about Wimbledon Championships. All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), on Wednesday, said it is evaluating all scenarios, including a postponement or cancellation of Wimbledon 2020 in wake of nationwide lockdown in United Kingdom.

Wimbledon 2020 tournament is scheduled to happen between June 29 and July 12. However,, AELTC in its statement, said that it is going to host an emergency meeting featuring all its main board members next week. AELTC said it would consult ATP, WTA, ITF and or Grand Slam during meeting. AELTC has also ruled out hosting Wimbledon 2020 behind closed doors and said a postponement seems difficult, given nature of grass surface used at prestigious Grand Slam tournament.

statement also says that by following government’s vice, AELTC’s sites at All England Club, Wimbledon Park Golf Club and Raynes Park are currently closed with physical operations reduced to practical minimum to maintain grass courts and security of sites.

Coronavirus: French Open postponed
outbreak of coronavirus saw French Open postponed to September 2020 and will be played just a week after US Open. decision to postpone Roland Garros due to coronavirus has been met with tremendous criticism from top players. French Open will be 2020's final Grand Slam and could see cancellation of as many as 18 tournaments across ATP and WTA circuit.

French Open postponed will also affect Laver Cup schedule, which will be played during same time. Change in dates of French Open will overlap Laver Cup schedule, which is also scheduled to take place at end of September 2020. Laver Cup is co-owned by record 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.
