Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games may get cancelled if coronavirus not controlled: Senior official
Senior Olympic official recently said that a complete cancellation rather than rescheduling is possible if the deadly coronavirus is not contained.

Dick Pound, a member of International Olympic Committee (IOC), reportedly estimated that re is a maximum of three months to decide final fate of Olympics which is scheduled to take place in Tokyo this year. Japan, meanwhile has 186 confirmed cases of dely virus in dition to 704, who were diagsed on Diamond Princess cruise ship.

Pound, while speaking to a news ncy said that it would be in late May that officials would question mselves if re was sufficient control over infection to hold Tokyo games. He furr said that as games draw near, a lot of things would start happening, officials would start ramping up security, food, Olympic vill, hotels etc. before saying that media would start building ir studios. He n said that only if IOC decides that games can t go forward as scheduled in Tokyo, n y will cancel it.

Meanwhile, or sporting events across Japan have also been called off amid rising fear of coronavirus. J1 League football has been postponed till 15 march making it biggest disruption in professional game since 2011 tsunami and earthquake.

Japanese Health Minister Katsubu Kato on February 25 reportedly called on public to step up prevention and safety efforts after government anunced basic policies to tackle vel coronavirus. proposed measures include encouraging companies to allow employees to work from home and expanding hospital treatment capacity, urging people to wash ir hands carefully and avoid going out when feeling unwell, a news ncy reported. government has also asked those with mild illnesses to go to family doctors inste of hospitals with specialised virus-control facilities which are treating many seriously ill patients.
