Tom Brady almost switched to No.7 to signify Super Bowl pursuit with the Bucs
NFL legend Tom Brady was willing to give up his iconic No.12 jersey after moving to the Bucs, in favour of No.7 to signify the team's Super Bowl pursuit.

In an interview with NBC Sports' Peter King on "Football Morning in America," Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manr Jason Licht said Tom Bry h a new jersey number in mind if things didn't work out. Recalling conversation he h with 43-year-old in summer, Licht said, “After we talked and we knew [Bry was going to sign], I said, 'Hey, re's one or thing here. It's a small thing, but maybe a big thing. We have a . 12 on our team and he's pretty good — Chris Godwin. What are you thinking about that?'". Bucs GM revealed that Bry initially wasn't keen on taking . 12 from Godwin and h ar number in mind.

Tom Bry reportedly asked for .7 if getting a TB12 wasn’t possible. When questioned on choosing that number by Licht, Bry simply responded: “Go after that 7th Super Bowl”. Athletes in past have h to pay or players for taking ir jersey numbers. However, such transaction took place between Bry and Godwin. Godwin h said in March that he would retain his number if Bry doesn’t want it or makes a fuss about it.
While Pro Bowl receiver could have forced issue, he kindly allowed Bry to wear 12 as he opted to wear 14. 24-year-old h said that he did it out of respect of NFL legend, who h built an incredible career.

Bucs GM Jason Licht thought it was a cool moment by Tom Bry, to even think of changing numbers. Licht said, "I thought that was pretty cool. He's got TB12 brand and all of that”. 43-year-old will be wearing .12 when he plays in upcoming Super Bowl, his 10th overall and first with his new franchise. Bry has eyes set on his unprecedented seventh SuperBowl title, which will be Buccaneers’ first since ir Championship win in 2002. Super Bowl 2021 date is set for Sunday, February 7 (Monday, February 8 IST) and will be played at Raymond James Stium in Tampa, Florida.
