Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the best lightweight fighters in the UFC and is yet to lose a fight in his career. The Dagestani fighter is known for his grappling skills and high-level dominance inside the octagon with a record of 28-0. He has recently defended his lightweight belt against interim champion Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 and there are several lightweight fighters waiting for their chance to get the taste of a title shot. The Eagle made his UFC return after nearly a year out from the octagon and is one of the most active pound-for-pound fighters in UFC.

UFC Khabib Nurmagomedov fight news
If social media posts are considered, Khabib is challenged all the time by his fellow UFC fighters and boxers all around the world. MMA veterans consider Khabib to be a great grappling machine who mauls his opponents while there is a different section who thinks Khabib’s striking is average and he is highly beatable in standup. Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather was also rumoured to be Khabib’s opponent after UFC 229 but the deal never materialised. Nate Diaz also gave a hint about wanting to fight Khabib but the American came back to UFC in the welterweight division and the fight is nowhere close to being in talks.

Tony Ferguson
Tony Ferguson is considered to be the most valid rival of Khabib Nurmagomedov at this point in time. The bout between Khabib and Tony has been cancelled twice by the UFC and the fans desperately want to see them clash. Tony is a supreme fighter with a 12-fight win streak at this point. His jiu-jitsu skills are terrific and Khabib’s ground game can be challenged highly by El Cucuy. UFC president Dana White has stated that if nothing goes wrong, Khabib vs Tony will be the next fight for the lightweight belt.

Conor McGregor
The Irish superstar fought against Khabib Nurmagomedov in one of the most infamous PPV of UFC at UFC 229 in Las Vegas. Khabib dominated the entire match and put down McGregor with a heavy right hand. McGregor looked helpless throughout the match and finally tapped out in the third round after being attacked by a rear-naked choke. After UFC 242, Conor McGregor tweeted about wanting a rematch against Khabib at Moscow. If Tony Ferguson steps aside, Dana White wants Conor vs Khabib 2 on his UFC PPV list.

Justin Gaethje is currently at the fourth spot in lightweight rankings. However, veterans and fans consider him to be a perfect opponent for champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Justin Gaethje is a tremendous striker with great ability of kickboxing and that can be a lethal weapon against a grappler. Gaethje has recently defeated Barboza and is going strong and steady in the lightweight division.
