The 2019 Formula One Grand Prix is off to a great start as Valterri Bottas of Mercedes has stunned his team-mate as well as five-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton to win the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on Sunday.
Mercedes has been dominating the F1 circuit for a long time. The 'Silver Arrows' have won five consecutive World Constructor's Championships in a row and with Bottas getting the better of Hamilton, it will only boost their morale heading into the next race.

Bottas started his F1 career in 2013 with Williams. He was roped in by Mercedes during the 2017 season to team up with Hamilton after Nico Rosberg had announced his immediate retirement post his Driver's World Championship triumph in the previous season. He obliged his employers by finishing at the third position in the season's first race i.e. the Australian Open Grand Prix. As the season progressed, he went on to register three Grand Prix wins for Mercedes in Russia, Austria and Abu Dhabi respectively.

By the virtue of this win, Bottas got his revenge against Hamilton for what had happened at last season's Russian Grand Prix. He had to surrender his lead to Hamilton as he was no longer in the championship fight while Hamilton on the hand was in red hot form. He has indeed made a strong statement in the opening race of the season by winning his fourth Grand Prix.
The 29 -year old Finnish is confident about being in the fight for the World Championship. However, in order to make it happen, he will need to get the better of his team-mate and current World Champion Lewis Hamilton on a regular basis.
