Weightlifters CT Davinder Kaur and CT Manpreet Kaur make India proud with medal wins at Commonwealth Senior Championship; CRPF lauds the duo

Indian weightlifters CT Davinder Kaur and CT Manpreet Kaur have made the country proud by winning gold and silver medals respectively at the 2019 Commonwealth Senior Championship in Samoa.

Indian weightlifters CT Davinder Kaur and CT Manpreet Kaur have me country proud by winning gold and silver medals respectively at 2019 Commonwealth Senior Championship in Samoa. Davinder lifted a total of 184kg (80+104) to win women’s 59kg gold while Manpreet lifted 207kg (91kg+116kg) to clinch yellow metal in  women’s 76kg category.

two weightlifters were congratulated by CRPF on Twitter for ir respective achievements.

Meanwhile, Indian weightlifter Ajay Singh Friday created a new Commonwealth record in clean and jerk category en route to a gold medal at Commonwealth Championships here Friday.

22-year-old, who is competing in 81kg category, also smashed national record in clean and jerk event by lifting more than double his body weight (190kg) to score vital points at Olympic qualifying event.

Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships bronze medallist h earlier pulled off a clean lift of 148kgs in snatch event, taking his total to 338kg.

This is also Ajay's personal best and 18kgs more than his 320kg (142kg+178kg) effort at Asian Championships held in Ningbo, China in April.

or Indian in 81kg category, Papul Changmai finished behind Ajay to clinch silver medal.

Changmai, who h bagged gold medal in Senior National Weightlifting Championship in February, lifted a total of 313kgs (135kg+178kg).

P Anurha lifted 221kg (100kg+121kg) to grab first place in men's 87kg category, while Commonwealth gold medallist RV Rahul settled for second spot by lifting 325kg (145 kg+180kg) in 89kg event.
