Tiger Woods is speaking out for the first time since George Floyd’s death, saying his heart goes out to Floyd, his family and everyone who is hurting right now.

Tiger Woods is speaking out for first time since George Floyd’s death, saying his heart goes out to Floyd, his family and everyone who is hurting right w.

44-year-old golfer broke his silence with a statement on his Twitter account Monday night.

“I have always had utmost respect for our law enforcement,” Woods said. “y train so diligently to understand how, when and where to use force. This shocking trdy clearly crossed that line.”

Floyd, a black man, died May 25 after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck while Floyd was handcuffed and saying that he couldn’t brea. His death sparked protests in Minneapolis and around country, some of which became violent.

Woods' statement comes one day after former NBA star and current Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan made his first public remarks on Floyd and killings of black people at hands of police.

“I see and feel everyone’s pain, outr and frustration," Jordan said in statement posted on Jordan brand’s social media accounts and team’s Twitter account. “I stand with those who are calling out ingrained racism and violence toward people of color in our country. We have had eugh.”

Woods grew up in Sourn California, and he said he learned from Los Angeles riots in 1992 that “education is best path forward.” Thousands in city’s largely mirity south side took to streets after an all-white jury acquitted four white police officers of attacking Rodney King, a black driver, after a traffic stop.

“We can make our points without burning very neighborhoods we live in,” Woods said. “I hope that through constructive, honest conversations we can build a safer, unified society.”
