The IAAF World Athletics Championships began on September 27 and will go on till October 6. The events are being held at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar. On Day 4, September 30, Annu Rani delighted Indian fans by qualifying for the javelin throw finals. She also set a national record of 62.43 metres. She is the first Indian to qualify for javelin throw finals.

Jabir Madari Pillyalil came third in the heats for 400 metres hurdles on Day 1. However, he could not qualify for finals on the next day. On Day 3, the Indian mixed relay team comprising of Jisna Mathew, Nirmal Noah, VK Vismaya, Muhammed Anas flew through the finals and sealed an Olympic quota. Their timing was 3:16:14.

IAAF World Athletics Championships Day 5: Indians in Action
Annu Rani, who has qualified for javelin throw finals, will be competing on IAAF Day 5. Her match will start at 11:45 pm IST. Avinash Sable will be in action for the men's 3000-metre steeplechase at 9:15 pm IST. Earlier this year, Sable had set a national record at the Indian Grand Prix in Patiala with his timing of 8:28.94s. He will surely be looking to better his mark on the field during the Heat 3.
