World champion Malika Handa fumes at Punjab govt's failed promises; 'Congress fooled me'

Seven-time national deaf Chess Champion Malika Handa lashed out at the Punjab Govt over its failure in fulfilling the promises about cash rewards & a job

Seven-time national deaf Chess Champion Malika Handa lashed out at Punjab Government on Sunday over its failure in fulfilling promises me to her about cash rewards and a job opportunity. According to Handa, previous Punjab government led by Captain Amarinder Singh h promised her cash rewards and a job for her achievements, but present Sports Minister in Charanjit Singh Channi's cabinet has denied her reward.

Expressing her frustration in a video chess champion wrote, "I am feeling very hurt. I met Punjab Sports Minister Pargat Singh on December 31 he told me that government cannot provide me a job or cash reward because y do not have a policy for deaf sports."

"Ex-sports minister h announced cash award for me and I also have a letter of invitation to a felicitation event that got canceled due to COVID-19. When I told this to sports minister Pargat Singh, he said announcement was me by former government and he cannot fulfill it."

'Congress fooled me'

Handa went to blame current Punjab government for wasting 5 years of her life and questioned why is re is no support for deaf sport.

She wrote, "I am only asking why was reward announced. I wasted 5 years on Congress government. y fooled me. y do not care about deaf sports. district Congress leers h promised to support me during se 5 years but nothing has happened till now. Why is Punjab government doing this?" 

Handa has won national championship seven times and also has six medals at Asian and World Championships.
