Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon competed on last Friday’s debut episode of SmackDown in a ‘Loser Leaves Town Ladder Match,’ where the loser was forced to abandon Friday Night SmackDown. Owens, who was unceremoniously fired by Shane last month, had the perfect opportunity to turn the tables around and get him out of the roster instead.

Shane McMahon faces Kevin Owens to stay in control of SmackDown

This was a hard-fought ladder match with both men risking their bodies to deliver a five-star performance. Kevin Owens, however, retrieved the briefcase to win the match, guaranteeing himself a spot on WWE SmackDown. Post winning the fight, Owens grabbed Shane by his shirt and yelled the infamous line popularized by his father Vince McMahon, 'You are fired!,' signifying the end of Shane McMahon on SmackDown.

Where does Shane McMahon go from here?

With Shane losing control of SmackDown, Monday Night Raw seems like a viable landing place for Shane. However, with the WWE NXT currently being in a dogfight with AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite, fans can also expect to see him show up on the NXT brand.

But here is the irony!

Kevin Owens, who won the battle against Shane McMahon, has just been moved to the alumni section of WWE Superstars - a list of former Superstars who do not compete with the WWE anymore. Shane McMahon, on the other hand, does not appear in this section.

Well, on-screen firings do not carry much credibility in the pro-wrestling industry as the so-called 'exiled' wrestlers can turn up on other platforms within the brand or company. This is certainly an interesting twist by the Company which makes the WWE Universe question the authority's end game in this whole rivalry.

Fans will simply have to sit back and tune in to this week's Friday Night SmackDown to see if Kevin Owens turns up again.
