WWE Raw: Looking back at Rey Mysterio's three World Championship wins

On WWE Raw, Rey Mysterio won the fatal-5-way match to decide the number one contender for the WWE Universal Championship. He will now face Universal Champion Seth Rollins for the title and if he wins, it will be his fourth time being at the top of WWE. Rey Mysterio has always been referred to as an underdog and for good reason, his small stature had very few believing that he could conquer the gigantic superstars he would face in the ring. Let us look at the three times Rey Mysterio won the biggest prize the WWE has to offer.

World Heavyweight Championship - WrestleMania 22 (2006)

WWE WrestleMania was emotional for Rey Mysterio as his best friend, Eddie Guerrero, had just passed away in 2005. WWE's biggest underdog won the Royal Rumble after entering at number two. Making his way to WrestleMania, he had to defend his title chances against Randy Orton and finally defeated Randy and Kurt Angle in their Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania. This was a special moment in Rey's career as he dedicated the win to the late-great Eddie Guerrero.

World Heavyweight Championship - Fatal 4 Way (2010)

It had been four years since Rey Mysterio had been at the top of the WWE ladder and he finally landed a Fatal-4-Way match at the pay-per-view with Champion Jack Swagger, CM Punk, and Big Show. Rey Mysterio ended up winning the Championship by landing a 619 on Jack Swagger. This was a moment that fans cherished as their beloved Mysterio was the World Champion again. He lost the title after a month's time.

WWE Championship - WWE Raw (2011)

On an episode of Raw, Rey Mysterio took part in a tournament to determine the new holder of the then-vacant WWE Championship. He reached the finals and defeated the Miz to become the WWE Champion for the first time and World Champion for the third time. The entire locker room celebrated as Rey Mysterio walked back with the title but this was to last only two hours as John Cena defeated Rey Mysterio later that night to win the WWE Championship.
