WWE Smackdown Results: John Cena makes a blockbuster return before Payback event

Just one day prior to the WWE Payback event, the final weekly show i.e., the Friday Night SmackDown took place. At the event, the 16-time world champion John Cena made an appearance. Besides the Cena segment, lots of action was lined up to go about.

Biggest talking points of the night

WWE Universe once again witnessed the electrifying appearance of John Cena. The crowd went berserk when the leader of the Cenatiuon made his way to the ring. Cena addressed the crowd and as he often does acknowledged them. He was interrupted by Jimmy Uso, who underwent an Attitude Adjustment in the segment. Following the Cena show, the action began. From United States Champion Rey Mysterio to tag team champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were on the card, so let's find out who won and who lost at the event. Before that, another major highlight of the show that deserves a mention is the back-and-forth between Miz and LA Knight. Both have been regular on the shows and this week as well they cut out two extraordinary promos, one at Monday Night Raw and the other one today.

WWE Smackdown results

Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar (w/ LWO) vs. Austin Theory and Grayson Waller: The night kicked off with a tag team action, Mysterio and Escobar teamed up against Theory and Waller. The former US Champion and Grayson Waller dominated the initial proceedings and eventually came up with the goods to defeat Mysterio and Escobar. Waller picked the pinfall.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro: The tag team champions were expected to prevail and they convincingly did that.

Bayley (w/ Damage CTRL) vs. Shotzi: Bayley was accompanied by WWE Women's Champion Ivo Sky. It was all even between Bayley and Shotzi, but Charlotte Flair made her way out and took out Sky to ultimately distract Bayley. The meddling helped Shotzi, who picked up the victory.

AJ Styles vs. Solo Sikoa (w/ Paul Heyman): Following a skirmish early on in the night, AJ Styles and Solo Sikoa squared off in the main event. It was a great match where Styles had the momentum to finish but before he could hit the Phenomenal Forearm, Jimmy Uso caused an interference and courtesy of that Sikoa picked up the win.
