WWE has managed to entertain fans for a long time. Rivalries between players have been a point of attraction ever since its inception. Numerous rivalries have created headlines, and then later came to an end. We have put together a list of popular rivalries that have managed to leave a lasting impression.
WWE: Famous rivalries of all time you need to know about
John Cena and the Edge
No WWE Superstar has challenged John Cena as much as the Edge. Their rivalry began when The Ultimate Opportunist cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at New Year’s Revolution 2006, capturing his first World Title at the expense of the Cenation leader. Their fights often tested civil boundaries. During a 2006 Raw match, John Cena sent Edge swimming in the Long Island Sound. Edge also entered Cena’s childhood home to slap the latter’s father across the face. The situation escalated to such an extent, it temporarily transported the WWE Universe back to The Attitude Era.
Trish Stratus and Lita
To make a name for themselves in WWE, both Lita and Trish Stratus both took hits as hard as guys. Their legendary feud started shortly after Lita’s debut when Trish pushed Lita through a table. Since then, they switched between being friends and rivals. They traded the Women’s Championship with each other, giving Monday Night Raw it’s first main women's event. This was considered the zenith of professional women’s wrestling in WWE, and also the starting point for the Women’s Revolution.
The Rock and John Cena
Sena and Rock’s rivalry was once the talk of the town. When The Great One returned in 2011 to host WrestleMania XXVI, both already had some under the table issues going on. No one was surprised when Rock called out the Cenation leader in his epic 20-minute return speech, or when the two eventually agreed to a showdown at WrestleMania XXVIII. However, the personal turn of events was unexpected. The Rock gave Cena everything he had, while Cena retaliated similarly. The peak of their rivalry was in 2011 when Cena took The Brahma Bull to task over having gone to the ring with talking points scribbled on his hands. Dwayne was rendered speechless and looked like he was ready to beat up Cena, who was ready to give it back. The rivalry finally ended at WrestleMania 29, when Cena won the WWE Title from Rock.
Triplett and Daniel Bryon, John Cena and Randy Orton, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels, Undertaker and Mankind, Triple H and Shawn Michaels are a few of many other rivalries. Daniel Bryon and Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton and Kane are two of the on-going feuds. Though most wrestlers are friendly off-camera, there might be exceptions.
