Possibilities of a potential CM Punk vs Stone Cold contest
Following his explosive return at the WWE Survivor Series, there were rumblings about a viable feud between CM Punk and the WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin. The contest has the ingredients to become one of the all-time classics but it is far from getting a practical picture.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, speculation about Stone Cold vs CM Punk happening any time soon might be premature. More reports suggest that some within WWE are optimistic that Austin could return to face Punk in a dream bout. The topic has even reportedly been disseminated backstage.
Push button is awaiting a force
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated WWE's higher-ups would like the match to transpire. He then put forward the daunting picture which is that nobody from the company has reached out to Austin yet. Thus, there is no initiation on this match-up as of yet.
"As of right now, he hasn't been approached," Meltzer said. "He's not in. I'm not saying he won't be and that is not their direction. I'm not saying that's like some people thought the same thing you did. 'Hey, maybe we could do it.' I would just say it's premature. I wouldn't say it's never going to happen [either]."
