WWE's Potential Kurt Angle Successor Reflects Upon His Brief WWE Career, Short-Lived NFL Run
Gable Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist, talked about his time in the WWE. He praised his experiences and expressed interest in going after it again.

WWE's attempts to develop modern-day Kurt Angle did not go as planned as Gable Steveson fumbled big time. Olympic gold medalist could not live up to expectations in WWE despite hype. After a three-year stint, Steveson's attempt to enter NFL also failed. However, wrestler does not rule out a return to WWE in near future.

During a press conference on his return to Golden Gophers of University of Minnesota, Olympic gold medalist and former WWE superstar Gable Steveson spoke about his wrestling run with Connecticut-based promotion and his NFL run. He spoke highly of both experiences and is also open to pursuing m in near future.

“ WWE, just wasn’t right time. I h a lot of competitive edge in me and y knew that and it was just — it was not time for it and so maybe one day if stars are aligned, it’ll be a great opportunity to do it again. I have no b feelings with it, I have no b blood with it and I would like to keep moving forward with everything I have going on…
“ NFL situation — just definitely a great thing to do. A lot of people know I never played football before, so [he coach] Sean McDermott and [general manager] Brandon Beane and Buffalo Bills reached out and was like, ‘Hey, do you want to come try? We’ll give you best chance’. And so, y did and I got a few tackles in a couple games and a few QB hits. H a few or teams reach out to me previously before coming back to here so, maybe after season, it’s anor opportunity to get a Futures deal with team or go on from re,” Gable Steveson said.

Gable Steveson signed a three-year deal with WWE to become a superstar wrestler. He was touted as a modern-day Kurt Angle but could not make much from his run in company. He h a couple of matches before eventually parting ways with WWE and joined Buffalo Bills practice squ. But that did not work out eir, as he was eventually released from squ. He has now returned to wrestle in his final year of NCAA eligibility at University of Minnesota.
