WWE’s WrestleMania generates $165 million for New York, New Jersey

WWE’s WrestleMania 35 raised $165.4 million for the New York/ New Jersey region in April. The announcement was made by the company and New Jersey Governor Phil.

WWE’s WrestleMania 35 raised $165.4 million for the New York/ New Jersey region in April. The announcement was made by the company and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy on November 11, based on a research conducted by Enigma Research Corporation. The economic impact created by WrestleMania 35 was 60 percent higher than the $101.2 million generated by WrestleMania 29. This is the eighth consecutive year that WrestleMania has generated a revenue of over $100 million.

In the last 13 years, WrestleMania has generated over 1.3 billion for the cities that have hosted it. The event also made around $27.1 million in taxes. Murphy told American media outlets that New Jersey was proud to have hosted WrestleMania for the fourth time in April. He said that bringing large-scale events to the state was a major crowd-puller and brought significant economic benefits for NJ. He thanked WWE for choosing NJ.

Economic gains

Meanwhile, WWE Executive VP (Special Events) John P Saboor said he was thrilled that WrestleMania’s return to the forefront has resulted in significant economic gains for their partners. Now, WWE is concentrating on debuting WrestleMania in Tampa Bay. The study stated that a sold-out crowd of 82,265 fans from all 50 states and 68 countries attended the WWE pop-culture event. This made it the highest-grossing entertainment event in history. The study also stated that 52 percent of fans who attended the event were from outside the New Jersey/ New York region and stayed an average of around 4.6 nights, spent approximately $23.9 million on hotels and accommodations within the New York/New Jersey region.

The study equated that the economic advantage derived from the WrestleMania event was equal to the creation of 1,534 full-time jobs for the area. Next year, WrestleMania 36 will take place on April 5 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay. The tickets will be available to purchase from November 15. Meanwhile, there are also WrestleMania travel packages available for wrestling enthusiasts.
