Adidas Originals announces entry to Metaverse, signs major deals with NFT players

Sports goods manufacturing giant idas Originals has joined many lifestyle brands to step into metaverse with ir new venture. sports-lifestyle company has now partnered with Bored Ape Yacht Club and Pixel Vaults Punks Comic, which are two players of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) space. Apart from partnership, brand has also signed a deal with crypto investor Gmoney for its metaverse entry.

idas Originals created a buzz around its Twitter account after it changed its profile picture from brand logo to Bored Ape image. sports goods giants’ new Twitter picture, animated monkey is seen wearing an idas track jacket with prints of Punks Comic and Gmoney logos, showcasing newly signed partnership. Meanwhile, brand also shared a 29-second long video clip, which shows three apes from outer space entering Earth. animated video shows apes reaching metaverse land shaped like brand logo of company.

idas Originals changes profile picture to Bored Ape

Following its newest partnership, idas Originals called metaverse a “world of limitless possibilities” revealing that company will become an active player with NFT system. brand also changed profile picture of its official Twitter handle to a Bored Ape image. idas also posted to ir mobile application explaining brand’s entry to Metaverse. brand, in an article, thanked  blockchain technology for growth of ‘inhabitants’ of Metaverse.

“This autumn, idas, known for celebrating ideas at bleeding edge of originality, is settling in at frontier of creativity:  Metaverse. Our goal re? To see every one of its inhabitants thrive. Metaverse is where anyone can express ir most original ideas and be ir most auntic selves, in whatever form y might take. And thanks to  blockchain (and NFTs), those pioneers can own a piece of what y create,” an article posted on idas mobile app re.

Currently, re are over 10,000 NFTs minted on  Ereum blockchain by NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club. Meanwhile, Punk's Comic has also found its place in virtual space by merging NFTs and physical comic books to create what is called ‘new-age crypto comics’. idas’ entry into Metaverse comes at an exciting time as lifestyle brands such as Balenciaga as well as company’s rival Nike are also planning to launch similar projects.
