At this point in time, it is worth remembering that IIT Madras was established in 1959 and the premier institution has resulted in pathbreaking research with the most recent one being a hyperloop model which even caught the eye of SpaceX Founder Elon Musk and others in an event.

This innovation, demonstrated by students of IIT Madras propelled the participants (team Avishkar) to the final round of the tournament (called SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition 2019) – thereby earning them the distinction of being the first Asian teams to even enter the finals.
