Amazon customers can now collect their shipments from Vodafone Stores

Amazon announced its partnership with Vodafone Idea Limited in India. As a result of this partnership, Amazon will set up pick-up points in Vodafone stores

Amazon on Tuesday announced its partnership with Vodafone Idea Limited in India. As a result of this partnership, Amazon will set up pick-up points in Vodafone stores for its customers. It will provide Amazon customers with a pick-up point to collect their packages at their nearest Vodafone store. This way, Amazon wants to leverage Vodafone stores as an option to provide its customers with a pickup location to receive their package. Customers can select these points as a pickup location on the checkout page of their order while shopping on Amazon. Currently, Amazon customers can choose Vodafone store as a pickup point in select cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Indore and Ahmedabad. Amazon said Vodafone stores were picked as pick up points based on customer density. This way, Amazon hopes to provide its customers with 'easy accessibility and convenience' Amazon said it aims to double its presence in the Vodafone store network by the end of 2019.

In related news, Amazon is running the Great Indian Festival sale on its platform. Amazon claims it sold smartphones worth Rs 750 crore within the first 36 hours of the festive sale. Amazon appears to have recorded a massive uptick in terms of the number of smartphones being sold on the platform during the sale. The ongoing is to close on October 4. Amazon said 91 per cent of their new customers and sellers came from Tier II and Tier III towns while Amazon's large chunk of userbase came through its Hindi interface that was launched in 2018. During the ongoing sale, categories such as fashion and smartphone saw the majority of traction. Meanwhile, categories such as beauty and groceries saw seven times and 3.5 times growth, respectively. Agarwal was talking about the response Amazon received on the first day of its Great Indian Festival compared to usual business days.

Partnership with Indian Railways

Previously, Amazon announced its partnership with Indian Railways to allow its customers to pick-up their parcels at suburban stations in Mumbai. As a result of this initiative, Amazon customers can pick up their shipments at select suburban railway starting with Mumbai CSMT, Dadar, Thane and Kalyan.
