Dating apps like Tinder and OkCupid cause depression if you are lonely and you don't get a match: Study
According to a new study people who always checked dating apps on their phone felt more lonely than they did before.

If you frequently check dating apps on your phone, you may feel more depressed. According to a new study published in Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, people who always checked dating apps on ir phone felt more lonely than y did before.
A survey was conducted on 269 undergrs from Ohio State University who used at least one dating app on ir phone. As part of study, participants were asked questions about ir loneliness and social anxiety.

study found loneliness and social anxiety is t a good combination for single people who use dating apps on ir phones. It also found out lonely and socially anxious people experienced negative outcomes because of ir dating app use more than ors.
“It’s t just that y’re using ir phone a lot,” said Kathryn Coduto, le author of study and doctoral student in communication at Ohio State University.

“We h participants who said y were missing school or work, or getting in trouble in classes or at work because y kept checking dating apps on ir phones.”

Coduto said it is a problem she has seen firsthand.
“I’ve seen people who use dating apps compulsively. y take ir phones out when y’re at dinner with friends or when y’re in groups. y really can’t stop swiping,” she said.

Compulsive users feel more confident in ir own virtual world of dating apps than real world. And y are constantly after that validation while swiping obsessively on se apps.
Coduto also pointed out that social anxiety is caused by societal rejection which is why swiping and t getting matched hurts.

Dating apps are here to stay, matter what. Researchers warn users against spending too much time on se apps or constantly checking m on ir phone.
“At end of day, se apps are coming out of our major tech centers, and y exist to get money for someone somewhere,” Coduto said.
