X facing another round of layoffs: Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter) is likely to announce another round of job cuts at the company soon. While there is no word on the exact number of jobs that will be cut during this round of layoffs, reports suggest that the announcement is likely to made sooner than later.

According to a report by The Verge, the new wave of layoffs is likely to affect the company's engineering department primarily.

It is worth noting that the news of X announcing a fresh round of layoffs comes almost two months after Musk asked the company's employees asking them to give a detailed summary of their contributions in order to get their stock grants. As per reports, Musk sent a bizarre email to the X staffers in August this year asking them to submit a one-page summary explaining to the leadership of the company their contributions to the company in a bid to get their stocks. The request followed staff promotions getting delayed in the company without a proper explanation.

Musk bought the company in 2022. Since then, more than 6,000 employees have laid off from the company. More recently, in January 2024, X fired nearly 1,000 employees from its Safety Staff, the team that was responsible for stopping abusive content online. Sharing the details of the layoffs at X, Australia's eSafety Commission earlier this year said that 1,213 'trust and safety staff' including contract workers had left the Musk-owned social media firm since it was acquired almost two years back in October 2022.

It is worth noting that Musk has not only reduced head count at X, but he has also fired employees at Tesla. Musk, back in April this year, fired Tesla's entire team responsible for creating the company's superchargers. As per reports, the layoffs affected nearly 500 Tesla staffers. These layoffs were announced shortly after the company announced partnerships with General Motors and Ford to allow them access the company's vehicle charging network.
