After Facebook anunced a massive data breach on Friday, September 28, 2018, users around world are baffled and are trying to figure out what's next. Guy Rosen,  VP of Product Manment of Facebook gave out statement revealing that on afteron of Tuesday, September 25, ir engineering team discovered a security issue that is affecting accounts of almost 50 million users in platform.

Facebook said in a statement that if user is being logged out of ir account and asked to sign back in, it might be because ir account is compromised.

Users around globe have expressed ir insecurities and asked  company what to do next. In time when social media accounts of users are interlinked, y are unsure about what all data connected to ir Facebook account is accessible to hackers. y are worried about ir personal information being compromised.

Here's what exactly happened:

In an official statement, company revealed that data breach happened as  attackers exploited a vulnerability in Facebook’s code that impacted “View As”, a feature that lets people see what ir own profile looks like to someone else. company stated that this allowed m to steal Facebook access tokens which y could n use to take over people’s accounts. Access tokens are equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged in to Facebook so y don’t need to re-enter ir password every time y use app.

However, Facebook has stated that y are taking matter incredibly seriously and investigation on same is underway. y furr assured that immediate action will be taken to protect people’s security. As initial actions, Facebook has claimed to have fixed vulnerability issue and informed law enforcement. y said y have also reset access tokens of almost 50 million accounts that company was aware of being affected. y have also temporarily turned off “View As” feature as y conduct security review.

Facebook in his statement furr stated that re is need for anyone to change ir passwords. People who have been logged out of ir account and has forgotten ir login password should visit  Help Center for furr assistance. It furr stated that people who want to log out from social media platform as a precautionary measure should visit “Security and Login” section in settings. From re one can easily log out from all places y are logged into via Facebook.
