'Google has put a ban on misleading videos and ads on Coronavirus': Sundar Pichai

Sundar Pichai, Alphabet and Google CEO, recently said that company has taken down thousands of misleing videos related to Coronavirus pandemic using its Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based techlogy. CEO also mentioned in his blog post that y have blocked numerous s attempting to gain profit from COVID-19 outbreak.

On Monday, Sundar Pichai revealed in his blog post that Google has put a temporary ban on all s for medical masks and respirators. He also mentioned that Google continues to remove Coronavirus videos that promote medically unproven methods to prevent coronavirus in place of seeking medical treatment. He said that automated and manual review systems on Google Maps continue to take down false and harmful content, including fake reviews and misinformation about healthcare locations.

Currently, Google has also said that coronavirus tracking and screening website will be delayed.  anuncement of tracking website was me by U.S. President Donald Trump in a news conference. online portal to track COVID-19 is being built by Google’s subsidiary Verily. 

In a statement me by Google, company said it will continue to work with ncies and authorities to roll out  website "later this week" so that people can make have relevant information and or tracking facilities on screening and testing available at ir disposal.

Sundar Pichai also spoke about Google's recent initiatives on spreing legit information about Coronavirus pandemic. He talked about  Google Homep promoting ‘Do Five’ to make people aware of simple measures that y can take to slow  spre of disease, as per WHO guidelines.

World Health Organisation lists down five important things to do to prevent spre of virus -

  1. Wash hands often
  2. Cough into elbow
  3. Don't touch face
  4. Stay more than 3 feet apart from people
  5. If you feel sick, stay home

CEO also mentioned  initiatives taken by or platforms like YouTube in his blog post. He said that y are using home p to direct users to videos from CDC on YouTube. y are directing searches to local authority information videos and highlighting content from such sources when people search for COVID-19.
