One of users, who recently updated his cellphone to iOS 14, shared screenshots of ‘camera on’ indicator moment he accessed Instagram application even when he was t recording anything and scrolling through feed. This triggered several users to call out peculiar behaviour of social media platform that underlined privacy scare especially amid se times when users are on ir toes to check apps that sop around on clipboard content.
However, giving a statement to Verge, Instagram informed that app only accesses camera and mic when user gives permission like when y swipe from ir feed to camera. company also said that y are aware of ‘bug’ in iOS 14 Beta and are currently fixing it so that users are t ‘mistakenly indicated’ that ir camera is being used. Instagram has assured that y ‘do t access camera’ and ‘ content is recorded’. Many internet users credit latest version of iOS for calling out several apps but some also said, “it makes you wonder how long have se apps been doing this?”.
