Facebook-owned Instagram wants to drive more users to its standalone video app, IGTV. And for that Instagram has decided to push out IGTV previews in your main Instagram feed. So you can soon expect your Instagram feed to be relatively cluttered. Instagram announced its decision to shove IGTV previews into its main feed via Twitter.

"Now, you can preview IGTV videos in your feed. When there's a new video from someone you follow, you can tap from your feed to watch the full video in IGTV."

“With IGTV previews in feed, we’re making it even easier to discover and watch the latest video content from your favorite follows,” Instagram's representative told Variety.

Instagram, too, allows users to share videos on their profile. However, Instagram videos can only be 3 to 60 seconds long. That's why Instagram announced IGTV last year to attract creators with long-form videos. But despite Instagram's efforts, users don't seem happy with IGTV.

Calvin Walker from digital agency Critical Mass opines IGTV still has a long way to go.

IGTV's addition to Instagram feed could be either part of a much bigger strategy or perhaps Instagram is still figuring out its video game. Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed the company's plan to merge WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. Facebook is also experimenting with its yet-to-arrive dating service in the main app.

Pushing out IGTV previews on Instagram feed could possibly be the beginning of a potential merger of both the services in future.

Meanwhile, many users have slammed Instagram's decision to add more IGTV preview in the main app's feed.
