Instagram will soon tell you who do you interact with the most

Instagram appears to be working on a new feature that will tell you who do you interact with the most (or the least). We have all been in a situation where we follow back people who follow us in the first place, mainly out of courtesy and nothing else. But there's absolutely no guarantee that you will have a meaningful conversation with that person or any conversation at all. To address that, Facebook-owned Instagram is working on a new feature, according to app researcher Jane Munchun Wong.

Wong says Instagram is testing to group the accounts you follow. This way, it will be easier to keep track of accounts you follow but do not interact with much or at all. Instagram is expected to help users group the accounts they follow and make them easier to manage. Furthermore, Wong says Instagram will show you the accounts you least interacted with and most shown in feed in the last 90 days. Wong also shared screenshots of the feature in question. Based on the data, you can figure out the amount of interaction you have with particular accounts on Instagram and decide whether you want to keep following that account. This could be similar to how WhatsApp lets users find out who do they talk to the most on the messaging app. This feature is expected to allow users to refine their following list from time to time.

Of late, Instagram has been working towards making Instagram more like a communication platform, beyond photo and video sharing. Recently, Instagram launched a new, Snapchat like a photo-first standalone app called Threads. Facebook says Threads for Instagram allows users to chat with their close friends. Earlier, Wong revealed Instagram appears to be adding a new desktop UI to let users communicate over Direct Messages on their laptop or desktop computer.
