Microsoft to end support for its ageing browser Internet Explorer in 2021

Microsoft has revealed that it will be ending the support for Internet Explorer on their platform in March 2021. IE will be replaced with a Chromium-based app.

Microsoft is ending its support for Internet Explorer 11 across  Microsoft 365 apps and services in August next year, i.e 2021. browser will longer be supported for Microsoft's online services like Outlook, OneDrive, Office 365 and ors. Later this year, tech giant company will also be ending support of Internet Explorer 11 on Microsoft Teams web app on vember 30, 2020.

Microsoft bids farewell to Internet Explorer

Though enterprises will require some time to depart from Internet Explorer. Microsoft is reportedly expecting new Internet Explorer legacy mode in Microsoft Edge browser will allow users to make do in time being. Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser will help businesses access older sites which were specifically built for Internet Explorer, but it will only last until company decides to drop browser in its entirety.

While Microsoft changes support platforms for browser drastically, it is also planning to drop existing legacy version of Internet Explorer in March 2021. Once support tenure is over, legacy version of browser will longer receive any security updates or any updates in general. Microsoft has been steily moving existing Windows 10 users to Chromium-based Edge Browser, company has also furrmore confirmed that future WIndows update will all include latest Edge browser.

Microsoft h aimed to end Internet Explorer us and support for years w. company h first unveiled Edge browser back in 2015. browser was reportedly developed under codename of Project Spartan. Microsoft has since n labelled Internet Explorer brand to be a compatibility solution rar than ir default browser, seen through years. company has also encourd businesses to stop using ing browser, which has also been subjected to getting trolled on internet.

Though company did t reveal how many users actually use legacy browser, it shared that a majority of users have actually departed from Internet Explorer through years. Microsoft is reportedly planning to bundle new Chromium-based browser with Window 10 later this year with release of latest iteration of Microsoft's operating system.
