Popular ride-sharing companies in India -- Ola and Uber -- happens to be among the top 10 ride-sharing apps around the world in October. App research firm Sensor Tower has published a list of top ridesharing and taxi apps worldwide for the month of October 2019 by the number of downloads.

As per the data, Uber was the most downloaded app worldwide for October 2019 under ridesharing and taxi category. Uber registered 12.4 million installs during the stipulated period. The markets with the highest number of downloads for Uber last month were Brazil and India. Whereas Brazil saw 19 per cent of total downloads for Uber last month, India saw 15 per cent of total downloads.

Uber topped the number of installs for both platforms -- Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store).

Meanwhile, Indian ride-sharing company Ola was also among the top 10 ride-sharing apps worldwide in October. In terms of Google Play numbers, Ola was the third most downloaded app on Android, following Uber and Grab. Meanwhile, Ola app did not make it to the top 10 most-downloaded ride-sharing apps worldwide in terms of 'iOS' downloads.

It goes to show that Ola had a significantly less number of iOS downloads, further affecting the overall ranking. Overall, Ola was ranked #4 worldwide, following Uber, Grab and DiDi.

Following Uber, Grab was the second most installed ridesharing & taxi app worldwide last month. Grab registered more than 3.8 million installs. The markets with the largest number of Grab installs were Indonesia at 38 per cent, followed by Vietnam at 17 per cent.
