India’s performance at the recently concluded PUBG Mobile Star Challenge 2019 (PMSC 2019) was impressive to an extent even if teams from the country did not win the mini-series challenge. This is because Indian content creator Kronten lodged a valiant fight especially during Day 1 of the finals. Overall, both days saw dominance from Taiwan’s Team Kenboo who eventually walked away with the coveted Championship crown. However, Team SouL (aka SOUL) and TeamIND disappointed.

PMSC 2019 Results

Despite Kenboo winning the PMSC 2019 crown, individual Indian content creators viz Dynamo Gaming, Kronten, The RawKnee Games, and Gareeboo impressed as all of them occupied the top four positions in the PMSC 2019 fan vote standings. It is worth remembering now that the financial rewards are a priority but more importantly it is the recognition that Indian gamers get from events like these. We think that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG Mobile) game itself deserves some credit in this regard. As if to substantiate this, Indian gamers have been impressing on the global stage at PUBG events even though they have ended up finishing these tournaments in not-so-impressive positions. Their gaming techniques have received appreciation from global players.

India's Potential At Future PUBG Mobile events

Hence, we think that the above is a positive step if India is to emerge as a gaming powerhouse to compete with the likes of Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, and even western gamers. In the PMSC 2019 tournament, India’s Dynamo Gaming emerged as the highest vote-getter from fans with a total of 453026 votes, Both The RawKnee Games and Kronten received close to a lakh votes. If these numbers are anything to go by, then these are definitely positive steps in the direction of elevating the country’s gaming talent in future events. Remember that India still continues to be a major economy for PUBG despite controversies surrounding the game in the country.
