But in 2020, U.S. is allowing its citizens to complete census online for first time. However, people can also complete census by email or phone. With that in mind, U.S. tech companies Google and YouTube are working to protect process for next year's census.

More than 70 per cent of U.S. households use internet whereas 80 per cent of population has access to internet over smartphones. To support new online option, Google says y are working to connect people with information about census.

"Building upon our ongoing work to protect integrity of information and civic processes, this past March we established our 2020 U.S. Census Taskforce, a team to support operations and security of 2020 Census across Google and YouTube," Google said in its blog post.
"Its primary objective is to prevent b actors from abusing our services to spre misinformation, or to conduct fraudulent activity around census such as phishing or or scams," it ded.

Google says it will provide regular updates on efforts to Census Bureau and or relevant organisations.

This is how Google and YouTube are workin to protect 2020 U.S. Census:
-- YouTube will crackdown on videos and comments that misinform people about time or eligibility criteria for participating in census.
