Facebook's new logo
Facebook's leadership clearly wants more people to know that they are not limited to Facebook and Messenger apps. Facebook also owns and operates quite a few other divisions such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Oculus, Portal, Calibra, and Workplace. So obviously, Facebook wants more people to know who is behind all these other products, especially WhatsApp and Instagram.
"People should know which companies make the products they use. Our main services include the Facebook app, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, Workplace, Portal and Calibra. These apps and technologies have shared infrastructure for years and the teams behind them frequently work together," said Antonio Lucio, Chief Marketing Officer at Facebook.

New logo 'too simple'
Dorsey is not the only one who reacted to the announcement, other netizens were seen criticizing the logo for being 'too simple'. The announcement by the social media giant came out of the blue, and the people of the internet did not appreciate it. While most analysts suggest that the new branding is for more people to know that Facebook owns other platforms as well, netizens call it 'too simple'. One of the Twitter users also said that it amazes him how 'little of an effort' did the company put on its logo before declaring it. Currently, Facebook is under the radar for its policy of 'free speech' along with running political ads without checking the content.
