VIRAL: 10 years & 7000 kms later, Tokyo resident creates 'Marry Me' GPS art for girlfriend, Google shares video & enters Guinness World Record

This Japanese man entered the Guinness World Record for planning the most unique proposal for his girlfriend that eventually led to the largest GPS drawing in history.

Yasushi Takahashi used Google Earth to draw 'Marry Me (with a heart) for his girlfriend after 10 years and travelling almost 7000 kilometers.

GPS Drawing, also known as GPS Art and Strava Art, is a method of drawing where an artist uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) device and follows a pre planned route to create a large-scale picture or text on a map.

Google shared the video captioning it as: "For over 10 years, Tokyo resident Yasushi “Yassan” Takahashi has been creating GPS art with @googleearth and #StreetView—but it was his very first drawing that was his biggest, in more ways than one → http://g.co/gpsart "

The artist travelled from the island of Hokkaido to the shores of Kagoshima covering around 4,451 miles in six months. He later completed his trip with a heart at the end. He said that he went through all kind of nature obstacles like earthquakes, rains and more. To execute this grand plan, the artist says that he quit his job.

His girlfriend Natsuki said ‘yes’. “I felt the greatest love in the world,” as quoted saying to South China Morning Post.

Earlier too, in 2018 artist Nathan Rae created a #WeLoveManchester piece as part of the cememorations of the Manchester Arena Bombing.
