VLC for Windows 10 likely to support Apple Airplay in future: Report
According to reports, VLC for Windows 10 could be getting Apple AirPlay support sometime soon. VLC is open-source video player app that supports multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, Chrome OS, iOS, Apple TV etc.

According to reports, VLC for Windows 10 could be getting Apple AirPlay support sometime soon. VLC is open-source video player app that supports multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, Chrome OS, iOS, Apple TV etc. VLC has hit 3 billion downlos milestone and Videolan, developers of VLC player could be gearing up to anunce some new, exciting features.
Jean-Baptiste Kempf, a le developer of VLC app told Variety that y have plans to implementing Airplay. Once that happens, Android users can beam videos from ir mobile devices to Apple TVs. Kempf was quoted as saying that Airplay support could make it to main VLC app in about a month. Folks over at VLC also demonstrated enhanced support for VR content to let users watch tritional 2D movies using VR hesets like HTC Vive.

Kempf was furr quoted as saying that VLC mand to reverse-engineer majority of VR hesets with an aim to bring native support for VR content using main VLC app. It was furr explained that this implementation would be based on around 1MB of ditional code rar than opting for individual SDKs by heset manufacturers, which would have resulted in 100MB of ditional code.

Just like with Chromecast, we intend to support AirPlay on any platform. re is release date yet at all. We would like it to be part of VLC 4, which is next major release we are currently working on. We will let you kw in vance once we define a date.

At moment of writing this, we don't kw exact timeline when Airplay support feature will be rolled out, but folks over at Videolan could be planning to introduce it with next major update VLC 4.
Last year, Videolan ded support for Chromecast, in dition to 8K and HDR content.
