In 2019, Instagram introduced a change in account settings. According to that, if a user has changed his name on Instagram twice in 14 days, he cant change it for third time for next 14 days. As a result, user will be stuck with last updated name for 14 days before being able to change it again.

If someone still tries to change name again after second time, a mess from Instagram pops up on screen saying "You cant change your name at this time because you have changed it twice within 14 days." update was meant to be a safety measure but during lockdown, this safety measure has been turned into a prank by users of Instagram.

Instagram username change prank involves changing name twice. People may try to convince ir friends and change username twice into something funny. One can receive a text like, “Hey, I’m making a short video and I want you to be in it. Please set your name (name t user name) on Instagram as your favourite dish in lower caps first for example 'biryani’ n change it to 'BIRYANI’ in upper caps and take a screenshot of it and send it to me. Send screenshot of both upper case and lower case changes. I am t going to post it anywhere so don’t worry. It’s going to be a hilarious video so please do it. ASAP".

• Tap your avatar icon in bottom right corner of app.

• After going to your profile, on edit profile under bio.

• on name section and change name.
• on done after changing name.
• If you have changed it twice within 14 days, you cant change it again for next 14 days.
