When many Instagram users took to app on Tuesday to check how many likes ir recent post h garnered, y were merely told that ir post was liked by a named account "and ors". This change h apparently affected everyone in ir users' feeds as well. Hence neir did y know how many likes y got nor could y see how many likes or people's Instagram posts got eir.

According to Instagram this expansion of a "test" that's been in place for many users for months was unintentional. social media app, took to anor popular social media app Twitter to reveal that it was a mistake. Instagram immediately reversed it a few hours after it went live. Instagram revealed in its tweet, “We've been testing a new experience to hide likes on Feed posts. Earlier today, we unintentionally ded more people to test, which was a bug. This issue has now been fixed. People can pull down to refresh ir feed and ir likes should restore."

Although Instagram me it very clear that this was merely an unintentional gaffe on ir part, it did not users' strong reactions from rolling in. reactions were both positive and negative. While some netizens applauded move as beneficial for users' mental health, immediately started missing validation which likes brought m. Many users also expressed concerns about how this could impact Instagram influencers' ability to make an income through ir account.
It is unclear how bug came to be. According to a report in Mashable.com, social media company declined to comment furr when contacted about Instagram update. A report on website reveals that countries such as Cana, Australia, Ireland, Brazil, Italy, Japan, and New Zealand h alrey been dealing with loss of likes since Instagram began testing feature in 2019.
