In what could be good news for Indians, Amazon's Alexa voice assistant will soon be able to understand Hindi. Amazon Alexa users will be able to start speaking with Amazon's voice assistant in Hindi. Amazon finally allows developers to make use of a Hindi voice model to develop new skills for its voice assistant Alexa.

"We’re excited to anunce that developers can start building Alexa skills for customers in India using new Hindi voice model on Alexa Skills Kit (ASK)," Alexa said in its official blog post.

It's been almost two years since Indians have been using Alexa-enabled devices to access thousands of voice experiments or skills, Alexa ted in its blog post. Developers will soon be able to submit Hindi-based skills for certification. ditionally, Alexa will be open to requests from commercial hardware manufacturers looking to build Alexa Built-in products for Hindi customers for early access to invite-only Alexa Voice Service (AVS) developer preview.

Furrmore, Alexa encours developers to create news skils for Alexa with Alexa Skills Kit. Interestingly, developers don’t need experience with speech recognition or natural langu understanding to build a skill for Alexa. Previously, Bloomberg reported Amazon workers can listen to (at least some of) what you have to say to Alexa. This way, Amazon trains its speech recognition and natural langu understanding systems.
