WhatsApp has added a most-awaited feature that lets users watch YouTube and Facebook videos without leaving the chat interface, courtesy of the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode. Initially, WhatsApp Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature was made available to beta users a couple of months ago. Since then, the feature was expected to hit the masses. WhatsApp for iOS users have been enjoying the Picture-in-Picture feature since January.

What this feature does is allows users to watch Facebook, Instagram and YouTube videos in a small video at the bottom of their chat interface. This way, users can watch videos, navigate through WhatsApp and continue chatting with their friends, all at the same time. WhatsApp adds this feature to its stable Android app version 2.18.380.

It should be worth noting that the Picture-in-Picture feature works with both groups as well as individual chats. Previously, users enrolled in WhatsApp Messenger for Android beta program were required to keep their app updated in order to receive the feature. Going forward, users no longer need to do anything manually in order to activate the feature.
