Zomato delivery boy loses job after video of him eating customer's food goes viral
Zomato also said that it will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes, in addition to other precautionary measures to prevent such incidents from taking place in the future. Zomato assured that it will educate delivery fleet comprising of more than 1.5 lakh partners to bring issues like these to the company’s notice.

Restaurant discovery app Zomato sacked their delivery boy after a video of him eating food out of boxed order goes viral on social media. Recently, Zomato delivery boy in Madurai was caught on camera eating food out of boxed orders meant for delivery. Soon after the video hit social media, it caught Zomato’s attention and issued a detailed statement explaining the company's stand against food tampering issue and also launched an internal investigation into the case. In an updated statement, Zomato confirmed that the company has indeed fired the delivery boy in question following the investigation.
Here is what Zomato had to say in its statement:
“We take these kinds of reports extremely seriously and upon thorough investigation, we’ve found that the video was shot in Madurai. The person in the video happened to be a delivery partner on our fleet. We have spoken to him at length – and while we understand that this was a human error in judgement, we have taken him off our platform.”

Zomato also said that it will soon introduce tamper-proof tapes, in addition to other precautionary measures to prevent such incidents from taking place in the future. Zomato assured that it will educate delivery fleet comprising of more than 1.5 lakh partners to bring issues like these to the company’s notice. Zomato also urged users to bring such irregularities to the company’s notice.
