Apple Intelligence features: First set of Apple Intelligence features are expected to arrive on Apple devices globally this month. The company is expected to roll out the iOS 18.1 for iPhones, iPadOS 18.1 for iPads, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 for Macs later this month, which will bring the first set of Apple Intelligence features to the company's devices. However, not all Apple device users will be able to access Apple Intelligence powered features right after Apple rolls out iOS, iPadOS and macOS updates. The company has set specific requirements, which Apple device owners must meet in order to access the supported features.
So, here is a detailed list of requirements that Apple device owners must meet to use Apple Intelligence features:
Apple Intelligence: 7 Requirements to use AI features
Supported Devices
It is worth noting that Apple Intelligence powered features will not be supported by all of the company's older iPhone, iPad and Mac models owing to storage and computational requirements. The company has shared a list of devices that support Apple Intelligence features. The list includes iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, M1 iPad Pro and newer models, M1 iPad Air and newer models, M1 MacBook Air and newer models, M1 MacBook Pro and newer models, M1 iMac and newer models, M1 Mac Mini and newer models, M1 Max Mac Studio and newer model, and M2 Ultra Mac Pro and newer models.
Updated software
In addition to having the right hardware, users also need to ensure that their iPhones, iPads and Macs are running iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 respectively.
Sufficient storage space
Apple has already confirmed that users need at least 4GB of storage space on their iPhones to run Apple Intelligence features. This requirement is expected to grow overtime. The company, however, hasn't specified storage requirements for iPads and Macs.
Right device language
At the time of the initial roll out, supported Apple device owners will have to set the device language to US English to access AI features. To change device language on iPhone or iPad, follow this: Settings app > General > Select Language & Region > Add Language > US English > US English.
Right Siri language
Apple device owners will also need to ensure that the Siri language on their devices is set to US English. To change Siri language on iPhone or iPad, follow this: Settings app > Siri & Search > US English > US English.
Location
At the time of the initial roll out, Apple Intelligence features will not be supported in the European Union and China. So, users need to reside outside these territories to use Apple Intelligence features.
Waitlist approval
Lastly, they will have to join a special waitlist and get the approval to access all AI features.
