Apple Intelligence coming to iPhone, iPad, Mac next month, but not all features will be available

Apple will start rolling out Apple Intelligence to iPhones, iPads and Macs next months. It will arrive with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia roll out.

Apple Intelligence was one of the highlights of the Apple Event 2024 last night. At the event, Apple CEO Tim Cook detailed the features that Apple Intelligence would enable on various Apple devices, which includes iPhones, iPads and Macs. In addition to talking about the features and functionalities offered by the company's 'personal intelligence system', Cook also divulged when Apple Intelligence would arrive on the supported devices.

Apple Intelligence update availability

While Apple will start rolling out iOS 18 update globally starting September 16, Apple Intelligence will not arrive on iPhones, iPads and Macs until next month. Apple has confirmed that it will begin rolling out the first set of Apple Intelligence-powered features next month with the roll out of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

Apple has also confirmed that Apple Intelligence will first be available in the US English next month. The company will add support for localised English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK in December. On the other hand, support for other languages including Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish will arrive in 2025.

Apple Intelligence supported devices

Here are all the Apple devices that will get Apple Intelligence support later this year:

iPhone: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro.
iPad: iPad Pro M1 and later and iPad Air M1 and later.
Mac: MacBook Air M1 and later, MacBook Pro M1 and later, iMac M1 and later, Mac mini M1 and later, Mac Studio M1 Max and later, Mac Pro and M2 Ultra.

Apple Intelligence features that won't be available at launch

While Apple will start rolling out Apple Intelligence to all supported devices next month, not all features will be available at the time of launch. Apple has confirmed that some of the Apple Intelligence features will only be available later this year.

The list includes Image Playground that will let users create images using text-based prompts, Image Wand that will turn rough sketches into images, and Genmojis. In addition to these, features such as on-screen awareness for Siri, contextual awareness for Siri and Chat-GPT integration will also be available later this year.
