China says TSMC chip curbs undermine interests of Taiwan companies

TSMC a few weeks ago notified the US Commerce Department that one of its chips had been found in a Huawei AI processor.

China's Taiwan Affairs Office said on Wednesday that a US order to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co to halt shipments of vanced chips to some Chinese customers - as reported by Reuters - proved that United States was "playing Taiwan card" to raise tensions in Taiwan Straits.

Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for China's Taiwan Affairs Office, said United States aimed to worsen situation with Taiwan and that such a move undermined interests of Taiwanese companies. She was asked about reports at a news conference.

comments are first official response from China after Reuters reported on Sunday that US h ordered TSMC to do so. TSMC halted shipments from Monday, a source familiar with matter h said.
