Clubhouse no longer an invite-only app, open for everyone to join

Clubhouse app said in a blog post that users no longer need an invitation or to be on the waitlist to use services of the live audio app. It is open to everyone

Clubhouse, a live audio chat app, has dropped its invite-only system for people accessing services of platform. Earlier,  app required eir an invite from an alrey existing user or interested user h to join a waitlist through a request to join platform. In a blog post, Clubhouse said that “Twelve never-boring months later, we’re thrilled to share that Clubhouse is now out of beta, open to everyone, and rey to begin its next chapter. This means we have removed our waitlist system so that anyone can join.”  

company revealed that conditions were placed earlier to be able to have auntic users and grow in a “measured way.” It kept things from “breaking” as platform expanded. y furr said that intention was always to eventually be open for everybody. Initially, Clubhouse was only available to iOS users until mid-May this year until y launched Android version of app. In a report by Verge, it is estimated that re are more than 10 million people globally on waitlist to join Clubhouse. As limitations are lifted, everyone on waitlist will not be given access at once. process will be spanned over a period of time. If you are a new user, you will be able to join app without any issues.

Giving in to competition?

Clubhouse grew extensively during early days of pandemic, but now faces competition from social media giants, especially “Twitter Spaces” feature of Twitter, for audio chat services. Clubhouse was poised to become next big thing as it reached over 8 million downlos in iOS App Store in February. However, app has taken a hit in its popularity in recent months. In April alone, monthly downlos of app reportedly fell to 900,000 from a peak of 8 million in February. Clubhouse said that y appreciate competition and are motivated to build something unique. y said, “We suspect re will be many more ups and downs as we scale, and competition from large networks will be fierce. But we believe future is created by optimists, and we’re excited to build something new on Internet — a place based on human connection and lively conversations, where you always feel welcome and free to be yourself.”
