iPhone 16 Pro series launch: Apple hosted 'It's Glowtime' event at Apple Park today, wherein it launched its most advanced iPhone models yet. The company today launched the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max that succeed last year's iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones.

The newly launched iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones bring a host of upgrades to Apple 's iPhone Pro lineup. In addition to a bigger display, the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max also come with a dedicated Capture button that is aimed at helping users capture images in landscape mode.

iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max: Price and availability

Both the devices, that is the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max come in up to four storage variants. Interested buyers will be able to purchase them in black, white, natural, and new ‘desert titanium’ variants.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the iPhone 16 Pro starts at Rs 1,19,900 ($999 in the US). On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,44,900 ($1199 in the US). These newly launched iPhone 16 Pro series models will go on sale in markets across the globe starting September 20. The pre-orders go live on Friday, September 13.

As far as the features are concerned, both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max come with a titanium chassis with a glass back. The iPhone 16 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR ProMotion display. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR ProMotion display. Both the iPhone models come with an Action button -- a feature first introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro models, and a new camera button right below the power button.

Powering the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max is an A18 Pro, based on a 3nm process that is even faster and more efficient than the A18. It has a 16-core neural engine that “excels at generative AI workloads” with a 17 per cent increase in memory bandwidth. It also offers twice as fast ray tracing as the A17 Pro, representing an increase of 15 per cent. This chipset is coupled with up to 1TB of storage space. Both phones run iOS 18 and offer support for Apple Intelligence.

On the camera front, both the iPhone 16 Pro models sport a triple camera setup at the back, which includes a 48MP Fusion camera lens, a 48MP ultrawide-angle lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom. On the front, both the phones have a 12MP TrueDepth sensor with support for Face ID. The imaging upgrades include professional colour grading in real-time and colour algorithms that help improve photos. The cameras also support 4K at 120fps, offering the highest frames-per-second video recording on an iPhone. 

Both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max have Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6E, NFC and 5G for connectivity.
