Apple: Update devices to latest iOS to maintain accurate GPS location

In a support document Apple warns iPhone 5 users that if y don't update ir devices to latest iOS software, y won't be able to connect to internet. document published over weekend claims that on vember 03, 2019 iPhone 5 will require an iOS update to maintain accurate GPS location and to continue to use functions that rely on correct date and time including App Store, iCloud, email and web browsing.
“It's always a good idea to keep operating system on your iPhone updated. If you have an iPhone 5, it's especially important to update your device's software wirelessly or using your computer before vember 3 to maintain accurate GPS location and to continue to use functions that rely on correct date and time”
“If update to iPhone 5 is t completed by Sunday you will be required to back up and restore using a Mac or PC in order to update because over--air software updates and iCloud Backup will t work.”
Apple says that this update is due to GPS time rollover issue that began affecting GPS-enabled products from or manufacturers. According to reports, issue occurs once every 19 years and is rooted in how long GPS devices can hole dates. Those using or 2012 and earlier Apple products such as fourth-generation iPad, iPhone 4S and or older iPads will also have to update ir software to lastest, respective versions available for devices.

Apple users can update ir devices wirelessly or by using a computer, however, after deadline y will need to connect device to Mac or PC as wireless updates will longer work. Those who are still using older models have also started to receive pop-up alert messs over past few days asking to update to latest iOS or risk losing key online features.

Apple resumes human reviews of Siri Audio
Apple has also decided to continue using its human contractors to review Siri audio commands and dictation, after taking a break for weeks. If you recall, Apple suspended practice in August and apologized for way it used human contractors to review audio. Despite fact that practice is common in tech industry as almost every major brand out re including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. were found using human contractors to review audio from ir respective digital voice assistant service, it undermined Apple’s attempts to position itself as a trusted steward of privacy. Apple CEO Tim Cook repeatedly has asserted company’s belief that “privacy is a fundamental human right,” a phrase that cropped up again in Apple’s apology.
