Apple Event Recap

Apple on Tuesday made the series of announcements at the company's annual hardware event in Cupertino, California. As expected, most of the significant announcements came true. Apart from new iPhones, Apple announced a Netflix-like video streaming service called Apple TV+.  Apple also announced its game streaming service called Apple Arcade. We take you on a quest for a quick recap of everything Apple announced during the event yesterday.

Apple Arcade

During the event, Apple announced its video game service 'Arcade' with more than 100 games. Apple's game streaming service will feature titles that will be curated by Apple. These games will be exclusive to the Apple Arcade service. You can download and play these games offline. You can access the service on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Apple Arcade will be available in India starting September 19 at Rs 99 per month. All games under Apple Arcade will be available through a new dedicated tab in the app store.

Apple TV+

Apple also announced its video streaming service called Apple+ to host the slate of original shows. Apple+ will compete directly with the likes of Netflix. Apple TV+ is a subscription-based service that will launch with nine original shows and movies. Apple also said new shows would be added to Apple TV+ each month. It will be available in India at Rs 99 per month with a seven-day free trial. Apple is also offering a one-year free subscription to those purchasing iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch or Mac.

New budget iPad (7th gen)

Apple announced a new entry-level iPad featuring a slightly larger screen than before and support for a smart connector. Specs-wise, it flaunts a bigger 10.2-inch retina display and Apple’s A10 Fusion processor under the hood. Guess what? You can also use it with smart keyboards now.  The all-new 7th-gen iPad starts at Rs 29,900 and it will be up for grabs starting September 30. It will be the most-affordable iPad you can grab once it becomes available to purchase.

Apple Watch Series 5

Apple spent a considerable amount of time talking about an always-on display on the Apple Watch Series 5. Yes, Apple Watch Series 5 can now challenge rivals, courtesy of an always-on display. Apple also offers a new Compass app for determining location. Apple Watch Series 5 will be available in New titanium and ceramic models starting September 20. The GPS model starts at Rs 40,900. Meanwhile, the one with GPS and cellular starts at Rs 49,900.

Apple iPhone 11

Apple iPhone 11 can be considered a cheaper upgrade over last year’s iPhone XR. It features an additional, second camera lens including new Ultra Wide and Wide cameras to capture a wider landscape. Apple iPhone 11 sports 6.1-inch screen. The iPhone 11 will be available in six colour options including purple, green, yellow, black, white and PRODUCT(RED). It will run the iOS 13 out-of-the-box. You can purchase the iPhone 11 in India starting September 27. It starts at Rs 64,900 for 64GB storage.

Besides iPhone 11, Apple also announced successors to last year's iPhone XS and XS Max: The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The difference, last year's iPhone featured a telephoto lens for better zoom compared with the regular lens. With the two these two new additions, Apple added a third lens, offering wider angles. No changes were made to the screen size, though. While the iPhone 11 Pro features a 5.8-inch screen, the iPhone 11 Pro Max sports a 6.5-inch display. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will be available at starting price of Rs 99,900 and Rs 109,900, respectively, starting September 27.
