Although earlier version of “Police” shortcut was created by Robert Paterson earlier in 2018, he recently took to twitter to update users with newer version from 2020, “Getting Pulled Over By Police”. command is function of iPhone app Shortcut, which allows users to program phone to do specific task, in this case recording  interaction with cops discreetly, with just a voice command. While approached by cops, one can say this command slowly and phone would begin to capture incident, according to Peterson’s Tweet.

Petersen described features of shortcut in a Reddit post. He said when user says “Hey Siri, I’m getting pulled over,” iPhone will automatically pause music, dim brightness and turn on “do t disturb” mode. phone n sends a mess to a pre-assigned contact that person is being pulled over, as well as location of incident. Furr, front camera is n turned on and begins recording incident. Once recording is turned off, a copy is sent to contact assigned, volume and brightness are returned to rmal, “do t disturb” mode is turned off and shortcut gives you an option of how to downlo video for yourself.

Peterson surprised with response

Speaking to a news media outlet in US, Peterson said that it just seemed a good idea to empower individual citizen to have a record over what happens during a stop to remove any ‘he said/she said’ scenarios with police. He ded,  idea would prove as popular as it has, he hn’t thought, and response has been extremely positive and more than a bit overwhelming.
