How to transfer data from Android phone to iPhone
The switch from Android to iPhone can be overwhelming and complicated because of how the two platforms operate, but Apple's official app can help.
Although Android and iOS are fundamentally different, they are the most popular mobile platforms. While some users choose to stick to Android, a few are ready to switch to iOS. That means they want to leave the Android platform and enter Apple ’s closed ecosystem, and the iPhone is mostly the gateway. However, the switch can be overwhelming and complicated because of how the two platforms operate. Apple’s official app for such users can solve the problem. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to migrate data from Android to iOS.
Migrate from Android to iPhone
Prerequisites: Ensure the Android smartphone and the iPhone are adequately charged and connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
Get the app: Download the “Move to iOS” app on your Android phone from the Google Play Store.
Begin the transfer:
- Open the ‘Move to iOS’ app on the Android phone
- Follow the on-screen instructions till the “Apps & Data” screen comes up while setting up a new iPhone.
- Tap the “Move Data from Android” button on the iPhone
- On the Android phone, tap the “Continue” button.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the two devices.
Select data: Users can choose the data they want to migrate from Android to iOS. This data includes photos, videos, messages, and contacts, among others.
Transfer process: After choosing the data, users can start the transfer process, which may last for minutes depending on the data size.
Keep in mind
It is advisable to back up the data before the transfer either on a cloud service or an external drive because there are chances of data corruption should the transfer be interrupted. That is why it is advisable to back the data up on a cloud service or a different device. They can use Google Drive on an Android phone or immediately back up data to iCloud on the iPhone to avoid any data loss.
